A Wet But Wonderful Day At Rochdale’s Classic Car Show

On Sunday 20th July, a mixture of players from our A, B & C Bands performed at Rochdale’s Classic Car Show in Falinge Park. Sadly, the weather wasn’t kind and it rained for the majority of the day, but that didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits! We performed two sets around lunchtime and had a great time entertaining all the visitors and car enthusiasts.

It was a challenge squeezing 37 musicians on the bandstand but we did it (just about!). Rachel, our drummer, was unfortunately stuck out the back and got totally drenched - thank you for handling it like a pro, Rach!

We also had a fundraising stall, where people could test their luck with Play Your Cards Right and also have a go at playing a brass instrument.

Organiser Bob Chadwick of Rochdale’s Rotary Club commented “Despite the weather, the annual Rotary Rochdale Classic Car And Bike Show saw around 200 vehicles on display, surrounded by 42 craft and charity stalls.

Bloom Community Music provided two excellent sessions of brass band music, which was much appreciated by everyone, including the Mayor, Councillor Janet Emsley.

All the proceeds from the show will be donated to the President’s charities in September.

We will do it all over again on Sunday 19th July 2026 as part of Rotary Rochdale’s centenary celebrations.”.

A big thank you to Bob and his team for inviting us to perform, and shout out to all our members who helped out this weekend - we couldn’t do any of this without your teamwork and effort! All our groups are taking a well-earned break now for summer, but if you’re interested in finding out more about our community, please get in touch.
