We’re Teaming Up With Manchester Camerata!
From 1st to the 5th October, ensembles from Manchester Camerata will be performing for free across all the county of Greater Manchester. From skate parks to shopping malls, libraries and more, the goal is to take music into unexpected places - and we’re so excited to announce we’ll be collaborating with them in Rochdale’s Exchange Shopping Centre!
Manchester Camerata have been established since 1972, and they’ve been working and performing in Manchester and worldwide ever since. With their live performances, they aim to play music with no boundaries. Some of their highlights include opening Glastonbury festival in front of 40,000 people, an orchestral rave performed in isolation to over one million people during the Covid-19 pandemic, touring Mozart in the most beautifully intimate concert halls, and working with such artists as New Order and Lewis Capaldi.
Manchester Camerata’s latest project Here We Are sees ensembles from the orchestra performing across the 10 different boroughs of Greater Manchester. At the same time, they’ll be celebrating the launch of ten new free Music Cafés for people living with dementia and their carers across Greater Manchester, supporting people to ‘live well’ through music (click here to find a Music Café near you).
We’re so looking forward to this event and we hope you can join us for an afternoon of free music in the heart of Rochdale town centre! No ticket is required, just come down to Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre and you’ll be able to enjoy the music throughout the afternoon. Here’s when you can catch all the groups performing:
- B Band 12-12.45pm
- Manchester Camerata Wind Quintet 1-1.45pm
- A Band 2-2.45pm
- Joint pieces from 3pm
