We Raised £1352 For Springhill Hospice!
On Saturday 19th September, eleven Bloom members and two four-legged friends put down their music, donned their walking gear and joined the green army of ramblers walking from The Oxford to Watergrove Reservoir and back, raising funds for this brilliant local cause.
As the start at 10.30am approached so did the clouds and the rain, but we’re British so that wasn’t going to put us off! Fortunately, the sun came out half of the way round and we could actually enjoy the views spread out before us, discard our waterproofs and show off our green ramblers t-shirts.
Alongside the other hundreds of ramblers, we made a long green line snaking its way through the hills and with thanks to the marshals and sea cadets, we managed not to get lost or fall off the stepping stones across a particularly deep ford!
Some of us took time to light a candle for our loved ones – reminding us of why we were there. We all got round in one piece (though there were some aching legs in the days after!) and enjoyed the food and drink on offer at the end - canine pals particularly enjoyed the doggy sausages!
